Blogging for money has been all the rave. Everyone's told to create a blog and just start writing everyday and you'll gain a huge
following and make massive amounts of money. Every television network has aired a success story of
how an average Joe or Josephine just started a blog and it took off to the tune of thousands a dollars a
month in income. The proof is in the blog's existence. You can easily go online and
see the page for your self. Then a reporter or news anchor tells you where to go and set up your very
own blog and begin doing what that person did. However, if you investigate the blogging platforms across the
internet, you'll discover tens of millions of blogs with billions of pages of content that has tumble
weed rolling over the site. It all seemed so straight forward. What went wrong? Is it a cleverly veiled
scam?
In theory, no. It's quite possible to make a substantial income
online from blogging. What's not shared or what's overshadowed by the obvious is the engine behind
what it takes to earn money blogging. If you go to any forum for online opportunities, you'll read numerous
posts of people new to the internet marketing scene wanting to know how they can make money blogging. There
is a science to building that income producing blog and if you don't follow it, it's very unlikely you'll
make much money. It's like a puzzle and if you leave one piece out, you can't finish the picture. The first
problem comes with our ego. We actually think someone cares about our life. When blogging first came on
the scene, you could easily get readers. Think about the early days of twitter. People were tweeting
about what they had for breakfast and it made the prime time news.
It was new and exciting territory. Anything that happened on it was
absolutely amazing. Now, with reality shows on the hour detailing every situation known to man and
with the popularity of facebook, no one gives a diddly about the lowly blog about Skip and his
daily adventures to fight tooth decay. Early on, news channels picked up stories from the blogs, now the
blogs have to do something noteworthy in order to be showcased by television networks. So
what's one of the missing pieces to blogging for money? It's called Relevance. It's not
even how relevant your life is to your reader, but how you relate your blog to your potential visitor. You
see, with so many web sites and pages, the competition is overwhelming. With the type of a keyboard, anyone
can have access to the world...Literally. So what is it about your blog that makes me want to consider it
over all the other millions of blogs?
If you get relevance right, you're well on your way to blogging riches.
Another problem with getting started with a blog is the futile attempt to convince a visitor that your blog
is relevant. This is what is called having the cart before the horse. The first thing you want to do to make
your blogging efforts prosperous is follow your audience. You're not Wal-Mart.
You can't be everything to everybody. That's a sure way to failure. Your blog has to have a common
theme. You have to find the one topic that speaks volumes to your targeted reader and make that the hill
you're willing to die on. This is the first step in building a blog you want seen and drawing money
from. You need to find out from day one what your intentions are for your blog.
Are you blogging for fun, to disperse information or for money? Each one has to be handled
appropriately. There are some blogging topics that will not make you much money, if any. You have to know
what they are and avoid them. There are some blogs that just don't have the potential to build a large
following. Knowing this up front can save you time, headache and money down the road.
The common factor in all income producing blogs is they solved a problem that a number of people
had. You're passion may just be that; your passion. You may not be able to find a big
enough audience that shares your infatuation with something. The widely successful blogs sometimes
unknowingly hit on a sore spot that a lot of people had and it went viral. Then the owner of the blog
monetized it. Now that more people know a blog can make them money, you have to be more proactive in how
you set up your blogging. You have to actively go after your desired readers and subscribers by finding out
where they are and what they want bad enough to keep coming back to your information. This is where the next
piece of the puzzle comes in. It helps you find relevance. It's finding out where your audience is. Get this
wrong and it could mean the difference in setting up your lemonade stand in the middle of the desert or
putting it in the desert where travelers take a known road.
Since you can't take your blog to the masses, you have to set up signs to get them to your blog as
quickly and easily as possible. Those signs are known as keywords. They're the words
that your target audience use in their search for information online. You use those words to create a sign
and build a road to your blog. This is the only way to get those ravenous readers to your site and get Google
to recognize you from all the other blogs. This is a simplified process to starting a blog that can
eventually earn money. There are other steps that you must take get your self noticed by the right eyes. but
you have to do this first. Not evaluating relevance and getting proper keywords is the number one reason for
so many blogs never getting off the ground. They may have been filled with great content, but the creator
fell for the all you have to do is put up a blog and start writing about anything line. This is the biggest
lie since the one about the world being flat.
There is a process you must follow to get the maximum mileage from, your blog money wise as well. So
blogs don't make money in the way they appear to. If you don't know how and where to position things on your
site, you could not make any money. Also, you can't wait for Google to find you. Google tends to give traffic
to those who have it already and knows how to get it. You have to know where your audience is and go after
them. As they read and react to your content, they'll build a following for you that Google can't help but
notice. Do this step wrong and you miss out on Google's free organic search traffic. Do it right and you may
have your hosting company getting in touch with you requiring you to purchase more bandwidth because you
exceeded their allotment. You could even crash their servers. That's a big stretch, but it
happens.
The truth is you can earn money from the internet, specifically from blogging. But you have to know
the rules of the game now. The newness has worn off. It's rare that you'll be an internet sensation by
chance. But you can make your mark if you follow the instructions. Far too many would be bloggers start out
wanting to strike it rich. They've fallen for the glitter of online money. They figure if they can put up a
blog just like everybody else, they will hit the jack pot if they keep at it. No, my friend, you have to be
deliberate in your actions. You have to know what you're doing. This goes for any type of online venture you
take. Blogging for money must be treated like a job. Because it is. Just like any job, there are obligations
that must be met before the pay off. It doesn't take a whiz kid, but it does take someone who's willing to
take all the steps in order and watch it grow. If you haven't already, go ahead and get the free report on
this page. It goes a little more indept about how to go about beginning blogging. It's a short read, but it's
filled with solid actionable information.
Here are some ways blogs are monetized:
 |
Selling your own product
|
 |
Selling someone else product through affiliate
marketing
|
 |
Using Google Adsense
|
 |
Selling add space
|
 |
Building the blogs rank and selling the blog itself |
Each one of
these has its own way it must be marketed to be successful. You can do one or all of
them. As you can see, you don't have to be all
technical and involved with different ways to make money. It's all boiled down to those six steps. However, each of
those require a lot of traffic to see the desired money from your blog. And that is where your next biggest effort
is. This is where the serious payers and the tire kickers are separated. If you think you can put up a blog and
have it producing hundreds of dollars a month, don't even try it. Oh, yeah; you can find a so called internet
marketer or guru who'll sell you the dream. But to actually do that is highly, highly unlikely. It is like finding
a piece of gold just laying around on the ground. It just doesn't happen too often.
This is the part that makes people cringe...Getting traffic to your
blog. Here are some ways

Any one of these has the potential to explode your traffic. Some are turtle
slow. Some are lightning fast. One can be relatively inexpensive, while another could cost you your first born.
Each one needs to be dealt with differently, yet, each one can play a part in how the big income
producing blogs got to be that way. Make no mistake about it, you can most definitely make money blogging and a lot
of it. But don't leave out the steps. It's simple to do but not necessarily easy. But if you follow the
trail blazed before you, it's possible to make your mark to.
