Don't get tricked into making money for someone else. Learn the signs and avoid them.

These may be the most important moments of your internet marketing career! TAKE HEED!

You've seen the emails promising the next great course that tells all about internet money and how to get your piece of the pie. You've watched webinars and listened to pod casts till your ears almost bled. Still, you're no closer to making any real money online than when you first started. It seems every guru is saying the same thing, but you just can't seem to get any traction in the online world. Well, one of the reasons is some gurus do a better job of teaching than doing. They have no more idea of what works outside the make money online market than you do. They just regurgitate what they were told would work but they were only interested in having you think they were the expert on the subject so you would pay them for information they never tested or never had any success with.

There are many ways to make money online and some will get a quicker and better return than others. But the truth of the matter is most internet marketing centered around information is given by people who are looking for the fastest way to make money and that is by selling hopes and dreams to those who want to learn the ropes of making internet money. It's not hard. It just takes more effort than throwing up a site and waiting for the money to roll in. A lot of newbie marketers really think their success lies in having a website or blog that has video, graphics and fancy gadgets. The truth is you can leave off all that and still make a killing over the internet if you know the right steps to take.

I'm about to remove the smoke and mirrors of internet marketing and show what really takes place as far as a lot of marketers are concerned when it comes to making a living online. The term "churn and burn"  is a widely known phenomenon. It refers to the constant attempt to get as many people to trust and buy from you before the older ones on your list burns out and realizes they haven't gotten any closer to their online goals and give up. But their wallet has diminished in value. The gurus tell you the way to earn income at home is to be confident, go all in, go to seminars, take action and all the other motivational jargon to keep you excited about giving them your money. But all the while your focus is on them and their advice rather than targeting your online pursuits.

So here's the way many online gurus make their big bucks.

* They get you to see them as an authority in the field of internet marketing. They don't show any hard facts but wow you with how they don't want to betray their client's trust so they wont reveal their name. They tell you how their client used just one of their tactics to make $30,000 in a month. You figure since they can do that for them, they can do it for you. So you buy their high priced course and fall for the even higher up sell for one on one coaching. They churn and burn through newbies like gum; making huge money off of enough of them to support their lifestyle. All the while, they have you thinking they made all this money from the clients that paid the $1000 an hour they say they charge for their consultation.

* They may not have a physical product, but they go to click bank and find a product that has a high commission or recurring billing and push that saying they stumbled upon a neat trick that the owner is using to make six figures a year with and they managed to twist their arm to let them look in on how they're doing it and they tested it and made $7000 over the weekend and they can only let a limited number in on it so the market wont get saturated.

* They form partnerships called JVs or joint ventures with other well known large list internet marketers  and peddle each others untested courses and training to the other's list.

* They suck at SEO and don't want to wait that long to see results, so they tell you they get traffic and they don't do SEO or PPC.  What they actually do is buy solo ads and do email marketing to a list of known buyers and build a following that way. So they actually do have an advertising budget, but they lead you to believe you can quickly build your business by following their instructions, yet, they don't reveal what they're doing.

* They buy leads that have phone numbers and use boiler room tactics to pressure unsuspecting people into getting into a sure deal with online marketing for extremely high premiums. Most of the big boys will tell you that's how they crack into the $10,000 months.

Before you get discouraged, understand I'm not deterring you from going after a career in online marketing. I just want you to be aware of how the big leaguers do it as quickly as they do. There is a slower, yet, lasting way to build your  business and make good internet money. It's the way a lot of successful internet marketers built their online empires. It's the way I'm building mine. I feel good knowing I can rest sound at night because I gave honest, reliable information to help someone do what I do without the steep learning curve. There's nothing wrong with click bank, solo ads, PPC, SEO or even calling leads to sell them on a business opportunity. It's the false claims and unreal hopes that are used to bait and hook people. There are few if any courses that are worth $5000+ to learn this system.

Unless a six figure earning marketer is willing to personally mentor you and promise you they'll unleash everything they know about internet marketing and wont stop until you make at least your investment back. That should be the least they would do. If not, then don't even dare to consider it. Don't fall for the I've worked with the coach I assigned to you myself and they know everything I know speech. If I don't have your personal phone number and have one on one interaction with you at least weekly; no dice.

Most honest marketers will tell you your money is made in the list you make. Whether you do it with free or paid methods, you have to get the people who come to your site on a mailing list so that you can keep in touch with them. The amount of time the average person stays on a site is measured in seconds. That is far too short for a customer to trust you and make a buying decision. They would have to be pre-sold before getting to your site. I have affiliate sites that sell items through Amazon. My site structure, images, keyword use, and Amazon logo is what builds trust with the visitor. They know Amazon well and is not afraid of pulling out their credit card their. However, you're going to have to build trust by forming a relationship with your customer and statistics say it takes about seven "touches" before someone makes a purchase on a site. A seconds stay is no where near enough time to get those seven touches.

Once you've earned that trust, your former customers will be a rally for you in the ears of potential customers. All that is built up over time. Make no mistake about it. If you get a sell from your site from their first visit, rest assured they may not have gotten those earlier touches from you, but they got them other ways and Googly's placement of your site helped them trust you enough to risk buying from your site. It amazes me how that happens. The people don't know me from Adam, yet, they buy stuff off my sites. A lot of marketers wont tell you this stuff, but most of my internet money comes from other streams than selling make money online information.

Once you get massive traffic on your web site or blog, you can put up Adsense to earn online revenue. Google Adsense is a trusted source and people don't mind clicking on the ads. You wont get the crazy money like folk did back in the early 2000s, but if you target the right keywords, you can make enough money to pay the majority of your monthly bills like mortgage, rent, car note, etc. The most realistic amounts I've heard tell of are $2000 per month average from Adsense. There are those that say they know people who are making 5-10 thousand dollars per month. That is possible, but I'd be very skeptical about that. you'd really have to know how to use keyword research and placement to pull that off. Statistics say most people have become banner and ads blind and don't even key on them much. But most businesses aren't going to just throw out money on processes that don't work, so people are still clicking on them.

Concerning SEO. Before all the recent Google updates, you could throw up a light one or two page site with light content and get high rankings and good traffic. Now it's next to impossible to do that with a medium to high competition keyword. You need at least five pages to start with ten pages as your goal. You want to steadily add relevant keyword rich and properly placed to get Google's attention. This goes along with your bank linking and social networking attempts. If you see a sight that is ranking in the top spots of the first page of Google's search, best believe that is not a high competition keyword. Hardly anyone searches for that term. And no money is being made from it. Don't fall for marketers showing you how they can rank a keyword in thirty minutes to an hour. If the keyword was a high competition one, you can bet your last dollar they wont be able to keep it there more than a few hours to a day before Google dances them back to oblivion. You don't want to use black hat tactics on a site you want to build into a money maker.

You'd be better off just buying traffic until your SEO efforts start to move it up the ranks. If you do the basics and work at it patiently, you can realistically see your site move into money territory within two to three months without fear of it losing rank. It is possible to run with the big boys with high competition keywords. I do it and you can to. I know a lot of readers are going to feel cheated for me not disclosing every nut and bolt to making internet money, but that is part of the problem. Information overload is a major player in keeping newcomers from seeing results online. However, if you go to my passive income site, you can get more detailed steps to get you further along. Also, on the home page there's a free book that shows you how to rank on page one with EMD sites even after all the Google updates. I enjoy a consistent flow of income from using the steps outlined in the book. It's free and it will help you without distracting you.
