How To Build A Blog That Makes Money
If you can stick with this to the end, you'll save yourself time and money
later.
Whether you know it or not, if you're wondering how to start
a blog, that is the most powerful question you can ask if you want to build a
large following with massive traffic and subsequently make good money. If you do a Google search, you'd find
that many people search for how to build a website. Truthfully, with all the free ways to build a blog or
website, it's not difficult at all to build a website. But therein lies the problem. Most seekers really
aren't asking for a way to build a blog. They want to know how to make a blog that makes money for them.
That's the real rub. A good bit of them have already fallen for the hype of putting up a web page or blog and
all you have to do is write about some stuff and people will find you and give you their money. Well, after a
month of no money, they newcomer assumes they're missing something, so they look for someone who can help
them out. Thereby, making themselves an easy target for unscrupulous people who will sell you the sizzle
without the steak.
There are so many people who don't make any real money online blogging that it's
been called a scam. While there are scams and schemes in the industry, the industry itself is no scam. It's just a
lot difficult to do it than when it first started. Purest were only concerned with having a venue to vent their
personal stuff to anyone who would listen. Advertisers quickly realized this method could be monetized and the rest
is history. Sadly, now, there are more people trying to sell ways to make money blogging than actually making money
from their blogging activities. So how do you build a blog that makes money from actually blogging? The process is
simple, but the action is a little more involved.
What you need to know is if you want to make money blogging and not selling
affiliate offers on how to make money blogging, you're going to have to do just that; blog. You're going to have to
make a detailed web log that entices enough people to tune in to what you write about. The long and less profitable
road is to just write about anything and try to drive people to it and convince them through your content that it's
noteworthy. Good luck with that. The best way and the way successful bloggers do it is find a need, concern or
problem that no one else is addressing properly and corner the market with that. Sounds easy enough but this is
where most bloggers start and lose heart. But you have to make it your business to start here and stick with
it.
Many so called blogging gurus will have you start with learning Google's way of
ranking sites and offer plug ins and widgets to manipulate the system. With all the recent updates we heard about,
never mind the many that aren't published, many blogs and websites have been annihilated by following that process.
So the way to avoid Google's penalties is to play the game how they play it. You want to target your audience, not
Google. If you win your audience, Google will send you the ones you haven't reached yet. To build a website or blog
that makes money, you have to start with finding words that your target audience uses to navigate online. They're
looking for like companionship. That's where you come in. You have to find those words and phrases and build your
website's and blog's content in a manner that draws them to your information.
When dealing with internet marketers who sell courses and ebook on how to make
money blogging or make money online in general, you have to understand they want to make money off you and your
efforts to make money. They'll constantly bombard you with software, membership sites, tutorials, videos, you name
it and you will be offered it. A lot of that stuff is not needed. It may sound alluring within the make money
online community, but if you're not targeting those people, it may annoy them more than anything else. For
instance, you've probably heard about how video is all the rage online. Everybody and their turtle is touting the
need to incorporate this vehicle into your marketing tool box. They talk about how Youtube is in the top three
sites that get visited everyday. They spout the number of videos that are uploaded to Youtube and other video
sharing sites every so many seconds.
All that sounds so compelling that you find a way to get the money to purchase the
next greatest video player in order to put video on your site. The gurus fail to mention that even within their
internet marketing community people are starting to hate video presentations because they're too long, they don't
get to the point fast enough and many of the videos are forcing you to sit through upwards of an hour of video
content before spilling the beans with no fast forward button in sight. People are actually starting to leave sites
that have mostly video on them because why should they stick around your niche site filled with slow loading videos
when they can get multiple videos from Youtube and other established video sharing sites. I'm not saying video is
dying or going anywhere. I'm saying the gurus are using sales tactics to make money off your lack of knowledge and
willingness to research before buying. There are newbies who's hard drives are filled with unused, unneeded or
difficult to use software due to them falling for clever copyrighting that did what they should have done too their
target audience; and that was find a product or service that will ease a problem of theirs and make their life
easier.
The truth be told, it takes a lot of time to build a website or blog that makes
money. You have to be committed to the process. The gurus you follow don't tell you this. They lead you to believe
they're experts in all the ways to make their blogs or websites profitable. Actually, you have to major in whatever
way you choose to build a following to your site. If you want to reach your niche or audience through email
marketing, then you're going to have to learn the ins and outs of solo ads. Keyword research is still important,
but not as much as it is with trying to rank high in Google. With solo ads and banner ads marketing, you're going
to have to know about writing compelling copy that makes people want to click through to see your offer. If someone
is attempting to get you to trust them with SEO and they got you subscribed to them by solo ads or some other
marketing, you should take what they say with a grain of salt. That probably someone trying to burn the internet
marketing candle on both ends. Honest marketers who put out stuff that they truly what to help you with will
admonish you to find your way that you wont to specialize in targeting your niche and perfect that.
There's a lady I'm on a list with who built her list and followers by blog
commenting, forum commenting and solo ads. She wrote that she doesn't worry about trying to rank in organic search
and just write to please her followers. Well of late, she must be feeling the lack of email openings because now
she has making videos and webinars on how to rank with Google within hours. That's all well and good, but that's
not her specialty and it shows. In my opinion, she's doing more harm than good with her followers. Only the newest
of the new would fall for what she promotes as proof that she knows how to quickly rank in Google's organic search.
She's neglecting a cardinal rule for building pages that rank well in Google. Anyone can rank pages in Google with
a site that's already indexed and being crawled by search engine spiders. The trick is to rank a page that targets
searched keywords that have competition. That is a lot more tricky; and that's what she leaves out. If someone is
talking about a catch phrase a popular guru uses, yet, no one else does, it's easy to write a post about that and
rank on page one in the top spot because no one else is going after that word. But if you want to rank high for
words and phrases around blogging, internet marketing, sewing, skiing and any other words that a number of people
are using to find information on, you're just not going to throw up an article, put your keywords in and within an
hour find that post on page one in the top spot. I hope this is starting to open your eyes to the tricks that are
used to make you think making money online with a website or blogging is fast or easy.
So you see that you're going to have to do some keyword research to find out what
you want to go after. If you watch TV, listen to the radio, notice bill boards and other advertising methods,
you'll notice certain wording is used to grab the attention. This is what you want to do with keywords for online
marketing. You want to find keywords that your niche market use online and build your site and pages around those
words. That way whether you use Google's organic search or email marketing and other ways to get traffic to your
site and offer, you'll have information that will encourage visitors to come and stay on your site; giving you the
opportunity to sell them your offer and take some other desired action. Once you get those keywords, you treat them
like a family treats a secret recipe. You don't deviate from those words at all. Your whole site has to revolve
around those words. You can add to them with relevant words. But you better make absolutely sure your content and
every post you make is devoted to those words. This is what keeps your target audience interested and coming back
for more which gives you more opportunities to sell something to them. They in return will spread the word and help
you build your site into an authority in your niche.
Once you have those keywords, you have to post often with useful and unique
content. This is a must for your audience and Google. There are those who obtain first page ranking and think
they've arrived so they get lazy about posting. Soon they learn that their followers nor Google will tolerate this
and their readership begins to wane along with their rankings. If your stuff is good, all you have to do is revamp
your writing efforts and Google will begin to give you a lift again. But this is where capturing information from
your visitors come in handy. If you get lazy about posting a lose some, you can always shoot them an email, tweet
or facebook them to get them back to your site. But understand that you're building an online business and you have
to go at it for the long haul. If you no longer want the daily chores of writing content for you blog or sight,
this is the time to hire what they call virtual assistants or open your blog or site up to guest posting. This
frees your hands up to not have to post as much and your website can become passive for you.
The more you keep relevant, constant and unique postings to your site, the more
your visitors and Google will reward you with their presence. That's the best way to build an authority blog. All
the other stuff you're approached with to buy and make your life easy is just that. Something that will enhance
what you already built up. Don't fall for the hype of automated done for you high traffic and high rankings
software and courses. Google is well aware of those practices that once worked well. You don't want to jeopardize a
good money making venture with a possibility of quick returns by manipulating the search results. It's not worth it
in the long run.
Everyone that's a little seasoned in this business knows that back links are key
to building rank in organic search. We all wish that we could have that coveted top spot in the search results.
unfortunately, there's only one number one spot, so you have to work to get and keep that position. However, if you
do the right things up front, your followers will help you acquire the things that put you in the top spot. If you
get enough followers and activity on your site, all this combined with good content will lessen your need for
manual back linking and traffic creating. In this 2013 and beyond online world, you need to be slow and deliberate
in getting back links to your site. You can go all out to get traffic, but trying to get a large number of back
links in a short time period can be devastating to your rankings. That's the only reason you want back link; for
free organic search rankings. They serve no other purpose. only search bots see back links. Your visitor could care
less how many links you have as long as you give them what they're looking for
There are keywords that have a greater earning potential than others. You know it,
I know it and your competition knows it. The mega ones like, golf, dog training, dating, diets, health, credit
cards, loans, etc. You're not going to make a twenty page blog about any of those generic terms and beat out your
competition. There's way too much heavy competition there. However, if you target a smaller market within those
markets, you can still carve out a profitable corner for your self. This is what niche marketing is all about. You
can drill down in practically any market and build you an online business there. Since it takes the same effort to
rank with the big money making keywords as it does the smaller niche Keywords, the big boys with deep pockets don't
want to concern themselves with the seemingly small potatoes. That's where you come in. Instead of trying to find a
way to attract people to your grub worm diet that help you loose fifty pounds. Why not find out how many people are
searching for other ways of dieting that doesn't have a lot of competition but a fair amount of people searching
for it. You can be sure that this niche will be taken by someone as its popularity grows, but if the numbers are
their while it's small, you can become the go to person who is un-removable from the top spot when others see you
profiting from it. You can now make money from those who were with you from the beginning because you were there
for them and you can make money by offering advertising space to those who want your spot but can't uproot
you.
The key behind building that profitable blog or website is to commit to it with
all that's in you. You found your niche. They're willing to spend money on what they want. You won them over
through catering to them and you're not going to drop them anytime soon. If you can't commit to sticking with your
project on this level, forget about making a money blog. It's not going to happen. Get used to the notion that
you're going to have to become a prolific writer. This is why the ones in the know tell you to find something
you're passionate about. In the early days of search you could just target a nicely searched keyword, build a one
to five page site around that word, buy back links and within a couple weeks be on page one in the top spot almost
impossible to knock off. Oh, but the winds of change have come. For years the honest marketers have been telling
folk to become authorities in their field. That doesn't mean you have to know everything about everything in your
area of interest. It meant that you should have been building sites that were scaled up regularly with good, unique
content. That way you would've been building natural looking back links in large numbers from sites all over the
internet including other high authority sites.
You still can do this if you choose your niche and begin right now. Just know that
it will take a certain amount of time to get to page one based on your keyword and level of competition. If you
have that confidence in the keywords you targeted for your blog, don't defer you efforts. If you took on
competition you can run down in a reasonable amount of time, don't stop building your site's content if you don't
feel you're climbing the ranks fast enough. There's nothing worse than getting lazy about building your site's rank
only to find that Google has taken notice of your labor and at least put you on page three. Now you sat around for
a month or two ignoring the site and now it sinks in how much further you may have been if you would've just posted
two articles or comments a week around your keywords. Now you have to push to keep the momentum going. I've done
that before and I know how it feels. Fortunately, I chose a keyword that had decent search with high competition
that was low quality. So I was able to ramp up my efforts and within a week I was on page one in the number three
spot and then I got that coveted number one spot in a high competition keyword. Now that feels great. Once you do
it the first time, you no longer doubt you can do it again. Just remember, if you want to build your business with
free search, do it the right way no matter how tedious you may think it is. This will make you Google updates
safe.
Once you do this, you can go into the placement of your keywords in title pages,
H1tags, meta tags, headings, image descriptions and all the other stuff that's needed to build a money blog and get
traffic to it or visa versa. Focus on the things that matter first and then go to the next steps. Once you write
about your gathered keywords, you can scour other websites and blogs that are ranking high in your niche or
relevant to your niche and build other pages with content that's unique to you. Always be thinking about what you
can write about on your blog. Most who want to know how to build a money blog are still working a regular job.
Well, while you're at work. keep a note pad in your pocket and when an idea comes up, jot it down and think about
it throughout the day. Add to the topic to get more content for the page. Write down sentences that come to mind.
When you get home, just write out what you came up with for content. It would be great if you could post at least
one article a day for at least a month. More would be great. Then scale down as your traffic and readership grows.
Eventually, your visitors will give you inspiration through their comments.
But you have to put in the ground work first. It's taxing at first, but it's worth
it once your efforts begins paying off. It's a great feeling to find out that an affiliate check has been posted to
your bank account with no involvement on your part. You can do it. Just start now and don't stop. This isn't the
exhaustive volume to blogging, but it does give you a solid starting point. I'll add to it as this site grows in
popularity. The keywords I've chosen for this site has medium competition and I haven't begun back linking or
anything other than putting content on here. As it builds, I'll put more interest on it and monetize it. I'm taking
the slow, steady course to building it. The keywords return a low cost per click, so I'll have to add other offers
to make worthwhile money with this site. I'm helping any newcomers or frustrated battle worn souls who have been
taken for a ride and just want to know what to do to get a real start at making money online. In helping this site
grow in popularity, take some time to share, tweet and post on your social sites. If you want to jump to other on
page resources to build your blog just follow this link for a more
